2 Teacher Agricultural Science Department
A teacher in the Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources Cluster must perform many duties to facilitate a successful program. It is the responsibility of the teacher to organize and conduct an instructional program that will provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in areas assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Additionally, the teacher will enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Skidmore-Tynan ISD offers an extended days contract (226) for Agriculture teachers and travel stipend.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- A valid teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject level assigned and meet local qualification requirements based on experience
- Experience: successful student teaching experience or approved field experience
Major Responsibilities and Knowledge/Skills
- Strong organizational skills, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Oversee SAE Projects
- Serve as an advisor to the school FFA Program, including competing in contests at district, area, and state level
- Be willing to work extended hours and weekends and travel with students
- Utilize Record book system and help students apply for awards and scholarships
- Class “B” CDL license required with Passenger and School Bus endorsements or willingness to obtain endorsements
- Truck and trailer are provided for use in the course of your duties
- Ability to train a variety of LDE/CDEs as well as participate in all aspects of FFA
- Active participation in Local & Major Livestock shows/Competitions
- Teaching PAFNR and other classes to be determined
